You walk off to the right. As you do so, you hear the sound of water dripping. You walk on towards it but trip over something on the ground. Your torch falls to the ground and is smashed and you can't see where you are going. You stumble often. Shortly, the sound of water dripping becomes quite loud. You can't see in the darkness and soon find that your feet are suddenly getting wet. As this happens you realise that you are sinking. As you discover that you have stumbled into a hole filled with quicksand, it is too late and you disappear into it, never to be found.
