ANOTHER DEAD WOMAN AT THE HANDS OF NEW ZEALAND POLICE! <\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A woman has died in police custody after being found unresponsive in a Christchurch cell this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canterbury District Commander Superintendent Tony Hill said the woman was found unresponsive around 6.50am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPolice immediately notified St John, officers also provided medical assistance,\u201d Hill said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSadly, attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said it was making inquiries into the circumstances of the death, which will be referred to the Coroner and the Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, RNZ reported a Christchurch 15-year-old boy, who had ADHD and mental health issues, spent six nights in a police cell<\/a> after being charged with burglary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boy, who had an extensive criminal history, was arrested last Thursday and charged with burglary after allegedly damaging a property with a group of older teenagers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His mother said he was being transferred to an Oranga Tamariki youth justice residence on Wednesday, as a place had become free, but she was furious he had been held in a police cell so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
